Social justice as a trend
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Okay, so it has seriously been FOREVER since I have posted a blog up here. I'm thinking like a year or something. Well, as my first blog since my long hiatus, I'd like to talk about social justice as a trend. I was reading this article today, and the author said that a lot of people see all the peace organizations and the going green initiatives as just another trend. They just get involved to fit in. They talk about an issue so that people will hear them and be amazed and include them in their lives. It's just another fashion statement. And I believe it. I think a lot of people, not all people, but a lot, just want to go green or save the dolphins because that's what the world is into right now. And that really stinks because there are a lot of people out there that really care about people and the planet and the animals, but those that just pretend to care change the way the public looks at these initiatives, and take away from what these people do. But, I do have to say that there are people that start off pretending to care, or getting involved just to fit in with the rest of society, but then end up sincerely caring. And, though their intentions were not admirable at first, this is okay, because they changed and now they really do care. That's just a simple change in view point. That's good, because if we stay put in one way of thinking and one idea, without being open to other ideas and viewpoints, we don't grow as people. It's kind of like what William Blake said: "The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
Well, that's all for today. Take care and peace and love to everyone.

Keep your head up

A Worthy Cause
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

I was listening to my mp3 player the other day (I know, I'm just not cool enough to have an IPod) and I heard this one song I hadn't listened to in a while. In the beginning, the singer said: "I thought I could find peace of mind in a worthy cause". And as I thought about that line for a while, because I have way too much free time, I realized that was what I would sometimes try to do. I used to think that if I stood for something bigger than myself, it would make me feel better about myself, and I would feel like a good person. Yes, that feeling comes, but what I really like about the causes I support and the ways I volunteer is that somewhere, someone benefits. That's the real issue, and I sometimes forgot, and forget, that. Also, I feel so small, and I don't feel like I really make a difference. I wish I could see just how people are benefitted from what I do, I bet we all feel that. Well, that's all for now. I'll try to keep in touch a little more often. Peace and love guys!!!!!!!!!

Presidential Classroom
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Hey everybody!!! I know, I know, I haven't posted a blog in forever and 15 minutes. I've had so much stuff to do, you have know idea. In fact, all last week I was at this conference sort-of thing called Presidential classroom. It was so cool!!! We got to sit on the floor of The House of Representatives! Only people who get invited are allowed there. I went to the Library of Congress, met on of my Congressmen, went to the Supreme Court, and heard great speakers talk about new technology. I met so many cool kids from so many different places. I made new friends and the trip added to my passion for science. I also developed skills and acquired knowledge for improving the world and helping people. I feel like a real leader now. I was just really excited about it and I wanted to share that excitement with all of you: More leaders of the world. In Washington D.C., I learned that all people, no matter how insignificant people feel or are told they are, they can make a difference, if they just believe. I know, who hasn't been told that since they were like 5 years old? But it is true, and I want all of y'all to know that, because I believe that everyone is important and we all matter. All of you matter to the world, so go give it what it needs. Get the world turning and don't ever let it stop. Together we can all do great things. Stay cool and peace and love to everyone!!!!!!!!!

Hate
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Hey everybody!!! Long time no blog! Today's topic is hate. Now, we all know that hate is a strong word, and please, do not finish the line from the Plain White T's song (2 points if you know what song I'm talking about). Many people today are so negative, and hate everything. The word "hate" slips out of our mouths each and every day. Well, out of mine, at least. It's just become a habit. Something doesn't go our way, we hate it. I'm bad at math, I hate it. This girl tripped this guy while he was walking down the hallway and he gave her a dirty look to retaliate, they hate each other. Whatever happens, it's mostly hate, hate, hate. Now, I don't think that I truly, genuinely, hate anyone or anything that I say I hate. It just frustrates me, and I don't like it a little. I think that we ALL, yes me too, should cut down on how much we say the word hate, because if we keep the habit going, we could direct the word towards someone we really actually like. And you can't take something like that back. Even if you think you really hate someone, you don't. You don't really hate your parents, or your friends, or that teacher that gave you an F. If you harbor that hatred, it could make you do things you regret. Wow, this is a kill-joy topic, isn't it? Well, that's all for now, thanks for stopping by. Peace and love to all. Wishing you flowers and everything beautiful!

Christianity in America
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Hey Guys! Sorry I haven't written a blog in quite a while. Life has been soooo busy with school projects and track meets and other junk that's just as time consuming. Well, today I thought that I would talk about religion in the U.S. and how things have changed. Okay, so it's pretty well-known that Christianity is the main religion of America and that the nation is a Christian one. This makes sense because the people that came here were all different Christian religious groups like The Quakers. Well, there are different religions in the U.S., like Judaism, and a few Islamic people, though Islam isn't extremely prevalent in this country. Now, to be nice and politically correct and not offend the people who are not Christian, we can't talk about Christianity or wear things promoting it or say Merry Christmas or talk about Jesus. We can talk about Judaism and its principles all the live long day and the same goes for any other minority religions. Well, it's great that we don't want to offend the other religions, and I like that we're trying to be tolerant, because, trust me, I'm not trying to sound intolerant or mean or resentful of Islam or Judaism or any other non-Christian religion. I just don't understand why everybody thinks we have to be against the majority to be for the minority. I mean, if girls felt like they were being oppressed, would you make up for that by oppressing the boys? No matter what we're picking sides. We should be for everybody. Well, that's all for today's rant. Please feel free to comment, I would love to hear what you think. Later guys, peace and love!!!!!!!!!
